Dear Friends and Visitors,
I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm welcome to all of you from the Faculty of Agriculture (FoA) at Tikapur, Kailali. As the flagship technical faculty among the nine faculties of Far Western University (FWU), FoA is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality agricultural education. Our commitment is reflected in our innovative teaching practices, recently revised and advanced course curricula, well-equipped laboratory structures, and a team of qualitative professors with multi-disciplinary expertise. Since our establishment in 2019 on the fertile lands of Tikapur, Kailali, FoA has been steadfast in providing quality education to the general public and individuals from the lower quintiles of the population. Our affordable programs across various disciplines aim to contribute to the overall development of the economy, particularly in the Far Western Province of Nepal. Embracing the national multi-university concept, FoA fosters a fair, disciplined, and result-oriented academic atmosphere.
Currently, we proudly educate approximately 500 B. Sc. Ag. graduates across different academic years. To further enhance awareness and promote the welfare of our agricultural community, we publish the magazine 'Krishi Bigyna Prabidhi Darpan'. Recently, we secured a project grant to establish an Enterprise/Incubation Center in Crops and Herbal Plants from UGC, Nepal. FoA is also evolving, planning to form three functional academic departments, namely Social Sciences, Plant Sciences, and Animal Sciences. We are actively recruiting multi-disciplinary faculties and administrative staff with strong academic backgrounds, research expertise, extension desires, and administrative experiences.
Our five-year strategic plan (2020/21-2024/25) includes constructing separate academic and research hubs, hostel facilities for boys and girls, libraries, and identical farms for various disciplines. We are committed to enhancing the quality standard of the B Sc Ag degree including General Administration, Account, Academics and Examination, Library, Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities, ICT Laboratory, and Dispensary, are also part of our strategic plan.
A major agenda for FoA is the formation of a Research and Extension Cell/Unit, integrating teaching, research, and extension. We strive to create congenial academic environments and seek collaboration with organizations at both national and international levels. We have initiated collaborations with institutions such as Geyongsang National University, South Korea; Virginia Tech State University, USA/iDE Nepal; IRRI, the Philippines; and ICIMOD.
